We love doing work for our clients, but we’re also constantly working on our own projects. Not only does it keep us learning and growing professionally but it allows us to tell the stories that we don’t always get the opportunity to tell. From a feature length documentary film (in production) to episodic web series to illustrated e-books to podcasts, you’ll find lots to entertain and inspire you below. Scroll down to check it out.
The objective of the film is to serve as a critical tool in raising awareness about the seriousness and pervasiveness of psychological trauma in the lives of millions upon millions of people worldwide. Ultimately, it is our hope that scores of unreached people may finally be exposed to some of the life-changing information now available. The film is meant to reduce the stigma of mental illness, raise the subject in the collective consciousness, encourage personal discovery and dialogue and offer a starting point for individuals to begin their very own journey of recovery and healing.
Every year, The Story Shop hosts a haunted home tour in our lovely, historic and charming town – Pendleton, Indiana. The proceeds from the event go to benefit the non-profit Fireside International. This year we decided to add a new, cinematic experience to the already story filled evening. This fun, spooky five part short film was written, shot, edited and scored all at The Story Shop at a dizzying pace of only 1 week. The piece features local non-professional actors and centers around a local – ahem – “true” legend. Don’t miss out. Watch it by clicking the button below.
We live in a pretty cool time where great storytelling is finding new life and organizations can harness “story” like never before. In “This Thing Called Story: Content Marketing in the Age of Storytelling” we unpack the opportunity waiting before us. Plus this e-book is really beautifully illustrated and a fun read. We’re obsessed with the art and craft of storytelling and we love to share some of that knowledge with the world, especially our clients. Anvil TV gives us a way to do just that. In our first series we try to take the edge off of sitting down in front of the camera by giving you some tips on how to be interviewed. We’re constantly thinking up new ways to educate and entertain so subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content.
The way we feel about our community rests upon the fabric of the collective stories we tell about ourselves. Madison County has a rich and beautiful tapestry of stories, but unfortunately the dominant narrative is one of loss, despair and regret. Tired of this negative story line, Madison County natives and The Story Shop’s co-founders Luke Renner and David Neidert set out to form a storytelling campaign that tells the real story of Madison County. This campaign continues to inspire hope for the future of Madison County as a new narrative forms, instilling pride and resolve in the community. The campaign consists of short films, a website, blog, and social media.
Every indie filmmaker dreams of custom music while they drop in the same old stock track into their project. We don’t. At least not anymore. The Story Shop has an in-house composer. Let us say that again. The Story Shop has an in-house composer. Our custom scored music and even the stock tracks we create have that extra layer of bad-assery because our edits happen in same building where the music is scored. We’re basically living the dream. Check out the variety of things happening at The Story Shop Music.
